timing is everything

so the Chevron refinery in Richmond is on fire. At once worrying about my aunt and uncle who live in Richmond, and wincing at what this is going to do to gas prices.

Second morning of waking up to sub-freezing temperatures. Wonder how many water pipes will have burst at work this morning? (six yesterday - maintenance was out all day wrapping extra insulation around other pipes to try to prevent repeat occurrences.)

it's not supposed to be like this on the Central Coast...

we had a burst water pipe outside (i think it's for the complex's landscaping irrigation) last night. Landlord lives in town, knows it's going below freezing, knows it isnt insulated, didnt do squat.

fortunately the gardeners showed up this morning and called the landlord about it, so for once landlord's negligence isn't my problem.

Of course, until it's fixed, people will be knocking on *my* door to tell me the pipe is leaking.
