So... who knew that the first figure skater ever from Turkey would be a girl? NBC certainly didn't mention that...

Subbed again today. Bo-ring. First-year teacher basically set it up so that aside from a math quiz first thing in the morning, there was *nothing* academic today. I was bored, the kids were bored... still, I'm not saying the cash won't be nice! :)

d00d. snowcross looks way kewl.

and naturally, the United States kicked some serious glute in it. (We invented it, after all.) [okay, maybe not serious glute - only 1 USAn made the final for the men. But he won...] this may not be good for its future as an Olympic event, though - softball is being dumped from the Summer Olympics after 3 appearances because no other nation has been able to get as good at it as we are. (Baseball and basketball are another story...)

In other news, I subbed for a 2/3 full fifth grade class today, the day before a four-day weekend. Fortunately there wasn't much actual teaching to be done today, 'cause I don't think they'd have absorbed a blesed thing. Good kids, though. By the end of the day there were only nine left (two went home mid-day for various ailments).
