so David Halberstam, multi-award-winning journalist/author and rattler of cages, got killed in a car crash on the Willow Road approach to the Dumbarton Bridge yesterday.
the only thing remarkable about this crash is that a Person of Note was killed in it. that set of approaches has been dangerous all my life, despite numerous attempts at improvements. probably one of the top spots on the Peninsula for fatal accidents.
still, dang. Halberstam was one of the better writers of recent history (Vietnam and later) that I can think of. I certainly enjoyed reading his books.
